UNE’s achievements

The University of New England continues to achieve excellence as an Australian Government owned higher education institution.  Outstanding research, highly satisfied graduates and recognition of achievements in teaching and learning by the Australian Government are just some of UNE’s recent highlights.

A five star educational experience

UNE achieved the top rating (five stars) for all three primary categories of students’ ‘educational experience’ in The Good Universities Guide for 2008.  UNE has held this maximum rating for seven of the past eight years, out-performing every other university in Australia.  Surveyed graduates gave UNE the maximum five stars for ‘teaching quality’, ‘graduate satisfaction’ and in the ‘overall graduate rating’, which is a resounding endorsement by graduates of the unique Australian learning environment offered by UNE.  UNE was also highly recognized for graduate outcomes in the Postgraduate edition of  The Good Universities Guide, receiving five stars ‘for getting a job’ , ’graduate starting salary’, ‘positive graduate outcomes’, and the ‘educational experience: graduate satisfaction’.

Ranked within Top World universities

In 2007 UNE was ranked within the Top 100 Asia Pacific Universities and in the Top 500 Universities in the world by the Institute of Higher Education, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Universities are assessed on the quality of education and quality of facilities they provide, as well as research and academic output.  UNE’s inclusion in these rankings confirms its place as one of the great teaching learning universities in the world.  Information on these rankings can be found at http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/ranking.htm

Full marks in Australian Government Citations

The University of New England also received the ultimate accolade in the 2007 Carrick Citations. The Carrick awards are an initiative of the Australian Government to promote and reward excellence in university teaching.  UNE was awarded citations for all eight nominees, a 100% success rate for the second year running. These citations were awarded to UNE for outstanding achievements in distance education, online learning, on-campus teaching and the linkage of research and teaching.
